How I Built Links This Morning
Everyone keeps asking me what I do each day to grow my blog. So today I thought I’d tell you exactly what I did today!
Right now it’s 9:29 a.m. I’m going to the gym at 10:30 this morning, so I have about 45 minutes left in my work day. I sat down at the keyboard about 20 minutes ago.
First thing I did was check the comments repository on the blog here. I found a comment on my “How To Get Indexed In Google Quickly” post by Tom Trush.
Tom had a link in the comment back to his site. I was pleased to find out that he’s a member of Dr. Joe Vitale’s Gold Program. Last month Dr. Vitale interviewed me about blogging and made a great member’s-only podcast for his group. Tom listened to the podcast and wrote about it on his very cool blog, The Red Pen Review.
Here’s exactly what I did when I found his blog post with links back to my site. I submitted his page to OnlyWire.com. That will get at least a dozen links to that post from high authority social bookmarking sites like Delicious and Bluedot. I then bookmarked it in Bibsonomy, Blink, Diigolet, and Spurl. More links. Shortly I will use my secret ASC bookmarking tool to submit it to Digg, Propeller, Stumbleupon, and Reddit.
Then I’ll have my virtual assistant submit the RSS feeds from those 19 bookmarks to 50+ RSS feed syndicators. That will get those links out onto hundreds of sites that pick up RSS feeds. The uber-genius Jack Humphrey has a killer list of places to submit RSS feeds at his blog. I learned how to do this from Howie Schwartz, the Conversation Domination creator.
Within a couple of days there will be a hundred plus links to Tom’s post out on the web. It will help him rank higher in the search engines. By helping him, the link back to my site increases in value. It will send some traffic back to my site, more link juice and higher popularity. Everyone wins!
So that’s what I’m up to. Helping out a guy who took the time to write about my blog. Sending him a boatload of backlinks. More traffic. More link juice. Helping him first, which in turns helps me. This blogging thing is pretty cool, eh?
That’s a lot to soak in mentally this morning. Here, enjoy some think-about-links music!
