Using Visual Motivation

When I was 13, I wanted desperately to go to Costa Rica on a missions trip. For obvious reasons, my parents said no, but that didn´t stop me from trying to earn the money and prove to them that I was mature enough to look after myself. Every morning, I would wake up, go to my sock drawer and there, on top of my socks, was a photo I had cut from the brochure. It was of a hut in a jungle where the volunteers would stay.
That picture motivated me for nearly a year . . . to do chores without being asked, to sell baked goods, make my bed and treat my sisters with more maturity. In the end, I still wasn´t allowed to trek off to Costa Rica on my own (though I now live in Guatemala!), but the power of that photo was so intense, it kept me going all year long.
When you need a little motivation, it really helps to have something you can actually see. Sure, you can write your goals down and look at them, but it´s far more impactful to have a photo of what you want, right in front of you!
Whether your goal is a new car, a nice house or a trip to Hawaii, or even just a new laptop, get a picture of it, put it where you will see it every day and use it to motivate yourself.
