Built to last, for a world that was
I’m no branding expert - far from it - but it seems to me that whereas in the world [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: “Business and Branding #1: Built to Last or Built for Now”, url: “http://www.thinkinghomebusiness.com/2008/08/05/business-and-branding-1-built-to-last-or-built-for-now/” });

5000 Suggestions to Nowhere

Monday, den 4. August 2008

In my last post I talked about what I did not like about Entrecard. But does that mean anything? Who am I! Does Entrecard depend on me!

In that post I got an interesting comment (by phirate) that said that they have 5000 more suggestions. That’s great for the healthy growth of any website. But at the same time there should be some worries too in their part. Why?

Say for example those 5000 suggestions are maid by 5000 Entrecard users from different parts of the world and they represent different blogging domain. And thus according to their habits and needs, they have different requirements and that’s why they are making those suggestions.

This also means that there are at least 5000 scopes for their improvement. This also means there are lots of people who are not satisfied with the existing support or development.

And now don’t you think there is a possibility that a lot of those 5000 users will flee to another service provider that will satisfy their needs! Ok, there is not so much to worry - things won’t be that worst unless they stop listening to the audience or they take too long to respond to their needs.

I would also like to add another point out here: as soon as someone starts identifying his or her needs - they become independent to take you as dispensable. And think about the situation when you find out that someone is not good enough to provide a solution to your needs! How long would you stick with them if you find some other alternative!

And that is the primary reason why WordPress is so powerful and so popular. What do you call WordPress? Is it just a blogging platform? I would say WordPress is more like a framework where you can develop whatever you want according to your choice and need. As time passed, WP developed it into a benchmark status for programmers and developers all around the world. They are now just developing the basic framework.

If you are dealing with mass, to give them enough scope for more suggestion. Think ahead of them and offer them a solution - just when they need it. And please remember that you are not doing any favor to them - you are actually developing your service.
