Ryz: Crowd Sourced Custom Sneakers
August
6th
Portland based Ryz is a new website, currently in beta, where users can submit sneaker designs for possible production. Following in the footsteps of t-shirt site Threadless, Ryz lets their community vote on which styles will end up becoming a reality. Designers have free reign over almost the entire area of the shoe, both the upper and the sole can be customized. Only one model is available now, with six more scheduled for the future. After the Ryz users declare a winner, the designer gets paid a respectable $1,000 and $1 for every shoe sold. The limited edition shoes will run you $90 a pair and the current winners are looking pretty fresh.
