Video Production Optimization and Promotion – Part one
In one of my posts, I wrote on the use of video in or as a blog post.
I think I should write some posts on video production, optimization, and marketing.
Who am I to write on this subject? I had been a full time Advertisement copywriter for two years before shifting to online copywriting, SEO and SEM. In addition, I have already made two TV commercial and the third one is in the edit suit (you can call it my part time job but I call it my passion).
Ok, let us get back to business - video production:
The audiovisual medium (video presentation) has an obvious edge over plain text or image. However, if you think that having a video camera is good enough to create a sellable product - sorry, you are mistaking. As I was saying earlier in that post - is your content (the story line) good enough for a video production!
Things to consider for a video production:
- Make the background or the visual complimentary to the content. If plain text is enough to communicate your point - than do not invest your time on video production. If the original content has the quality to be used as a resource material, it is always better to write plain text content. (plain text is always more “scanable” than video)
- A video is great when you want to display the real life development stages of a project or a product. Making it a revision of your regular blog post is not a good idea. Even if you want to convert your blog post into a video - add some extra value to it.
- Your target visitors also see quality video productions in other channels. You do not need to be close to those masterpieces - but you must have the capacity to make your videos visually good - at least close enough. Be extra careful in case of image and sound quality.
- Any good story may seem dull (if not worst) if editing is not good enough to compliment the content. You must master this art to be a successful video content producer. If necessary, take the help of a professional editor in the initial days. Apart from that, start developing eyes of a director.
- Prepare a complete storyboard before you jump into action. The most important part of a storyboard is relating one scene with the next. Read it loud and listen carefully.
- Do not use words if you can say it with expression or visuals.
- Make it short - add humor if it goes with the storyline.
- Select color and lighting sets carefully according to your theme.
- Do some experiments before you start uploading those videos for your brand.
