Video Production, Optimization and Promotion – Part Two
Did you read the Part One of Video Production Optimization and Promotion? If not, please take a look at that post first. Today I will write on video optimization.
Whenever we talk about optimization, the first thing that comes to our mind is meta document optimization, content optimization, linking pattern optimization etc. However, you do not get direct html tags to optimize the video content. To add to the problem, search engines are yet to be smart enough to understand video content.
However, does it mean, you have no profit from SEO or SEM point of view?
In SEO industry, we always say that every little bit counts. Moreover, with video publication, you actually accomplish another search vertical (video search) and more importantly, you actually start brand development and brand promotion.
So, how do we start with video optimization? Here is a step-by-step guide to video optimization:
- Trim your video: a 3 to 5 minutes video is good enough unless you are making a film. So, make your video slim and sexy and do away with extra flab. This is important from users perspective too as it will take less time to download (consider low speed internet connection). If necessary, break it into two or three episodes.
- Separate pages for Each Video: Create separate pages for each video and optimize the URL, Title and Meta document for each video around targeted keywords.
- Transcription: Write a transcription of the video content and publish it with the video. In this way, you will get plain HTML content to make search engines understand your content easily. Do not forget to use necessary tags (H1, H2 etc.) in the page.
- Linking: Use keyword rich anchor text to link to those videos.
- Tagging: While circulating the video in different networks like You Tube, use keyword rich tags to optimize it.
So long, we have these simple steps to optimize videos. By the way, do not forget to offer easy sharing options to your visitors.
