Geothermal power uses heat stored under the ground or in the oceans to heat buildings, or generate electricity. Oregon Institute of Technology is going to be taking full advantage of this abundant power source in the near future. The school has announce a plan to build a $7.6 million geothermal power plant on their campus. Located in Klamath Falls, OIT is located near a fault line, so heat and energy are easily accessed. Plans have the  power plant becoming the sole power source for the school within a few years. Oregon Tech would then become the first university in the world to be powered completely by geothermal energy.
