Twitter: Building a Bigger Boardroom

Tuesday, den 17. February 2009

Humana recently held a meeting bringing together leaders from around the company to determine how best to shape their social media policy. What we found interesting was that before the discussion even got underway, a decision was made to host the high points of the meeting on Twitter - essentially creating a digital archive of minutes - that anyone in or outside of Humana could read and comment upon. Despite some initial reservations about being too transparent - certainly basic rules for what should and shouldn’t be shared need to… Continue reading Twitter: Building a Bigger Boardroom

Nano Tattoo Ink Monitors Blood Sugar Levels

Tuesday, den 17. February 2009

In the future, tattoos may be able to communicate more than just style and rebellion. Draper Laboratories of Massachusetts is developing a tattoo ink which changes color based on glucose levels inside the skin. This invention could spare diabetics from daily painful blood glucose tests.

Discovery explains how it works:
The nano ink particles are tiny, squishy spheres about 120 nanometers across. Inside the sphere are three parts: the glucose detecting molecule, a color-changing dye, and another molecule that mimics glucose.
