Fancy Toilet Paper: Really Bad For the Environment

Thursday, den 5. March 2009

Toilet paper is perhaps one of the least environmentally friendly products on the planet. As bizarre as that sounds, think about it - it’s a one-time use product that is made using valuable resources which can’t be reclaimed for use in future products. Even more disturbing is that virgin timber from rare old-growth forests in Canada are being used to make the ultra-premium varieties of toilet paper. The New York Times reports that major manufacturers are taking steps to introduce versions with higher levels… Continue reading Fancy Toilet Paper: Really Bad For the Environment

The Fast Track From Meme to Book

Thursday, den 5. March 2009

Selling Retro with Comfort Packaging

Thursday, den 5. March 2009

As you may have noticed from our recent post about beverage rebranding, companies have a hard time selling new images to consumers. One notable exception from that article was the Throwback edition of Pepsi and Mountain Dew. Apparently, it is easier to get consumers to like things that they are familiar with as opposed to anything new and different (which they typically, eventually learn to like).

And this may be especially true during hard times, when people’s nostalgia for the good ole days carries over into the way they consume. Consumers are romanticizing… Continue reading Selling Retro with Comfort Packaging

Wearing 1-Star Yelp Reviews Proudly

Thursday, den 5. March 2009

In a humorous display of the interplay between the digital realms and real life, Pizzeria Delfina in San Francisco has started outfitting its staff with t-shirts bearing quotes from some of their “best” 1-Star Yelp reviews. The move is interesting for a number of reasons, but in particular because it points to a real understanding of how much these reviews mean to businesses nowadays. Social media platforms that provide peer-to-peer reviews have at least caught up with, if not surpassed, the once powerful sway held almost exclusively… Continue reading Wearing 1-Star Yelp Reviews Proudly
