The Big Money takes an inside look at Pet Holdings Inc., a Seattle-based startup that serves as the umbrella to online phenoms such as Fail BlogI Can Has Cheezburger and Engrish Funny.  Although the company didn’t invent these online fads turned institutions, they have monetized them by building a business model based on the marketing of internet memes, either buying up preexisting real estate on the web or developing brand new sites around them. Study Illustrates the Effectiveness of In-Game Ads

Though the results are far from conclusive,  a noteworthy recent study is showing just how effective in-game video advertising can be.

TechCruch explains:
Preliminary results of the study, which will conclude at the end of this month, seem to indicate online gaming audiences are more inclined to remember and positively percieve brands who experiment with pre, mid and post-roll video advertisements inside Web-based games.

Sunseeker II: A Manned Solar Powered Aircraft

Inhabitat reports that Sunseeker II, the only manned solar-powered aircraft in the world will be taking off on an epic journey over a large chunk of Europe (Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Slovenia) on April 5th. Researchers Develop Synthetic Human Blood

Blood shortages for transfusions may become a thing of the past if a revolutionary (and controversial) process being developed by British scientists works out.

The news was released yesterday that a team of researchers are on target to create unlimited quantities of “synthetic” human blood from embryonic stem cells. The goal is to obtain the cells from donor embryos that have the rare, but universally compatible O-negative blood type.
