The Economist, the international affairs magazine, recently established a market for subscriptions in India through a unique SMS marketing campaign. The tiny share of The Economist in India’s news media marketplace drove the magazine’s utilization of a miniaturized mobile news update.
Every day at 11 a.m. the magazine would issue a free summary of headline news and accompanying links to a new mobile updates channel. The snippets of interesting stories brought mobile readers to the newsstand, bringing sales up by 15%. Over the course of

We noticed Junk Food Pyramid on Twitter. If they execute on their planned project in May in New Orleans, it will certainly be something to look at, given the extensive coverage of America’s junk food tendency. What is the project about? Their website says:

Online tastings are hardly new. Brands such as Laphroaig have done worldwide whisky tastings over the Internet. But with the advent of Twitter we are seeing them evolve and become more popular as people find new ways to engage and educate.

Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of Japanese architectural firm SANAA were recently selected to design the summer pavilion at London’s Serpentine Gallery. (They were also part of a 2006 list of the 10 most important buildings of the 21st century).They recently revealed their plans for the pavilion - an aluminium canopy that will mirror the surrounding areas of Hyde Park, making the environment a huge element in the very success of the design.
