American Apparel Lets the Consumer Decide

Wednesday, den 15. April 2009

American Apparel is no stranger to controversy. In the last couple of years they’ve induced the ire of zoning boards, spawned a league of proto-porn copycats, and were even denounced by Woody Allen. At the focal point of detractors’ arguments against the brand is the use of blatant sexual imagery in their advertising. Perhaps as a result of bad PR, law suits, and the general confusion surrounding the brand’s messaging, or maybe just as a show of good will, the LA based cotton clothing purveyor is… Continue reading American Apparel Lets the Consumer Decide

iPhone With RFID Reader

Wednesday, den 15. April 2009

Touch is a research group exploring the way mobile phones communicate with the physical world. One of their latest experiments involves attaching an RFID reader to an iPhone. When the phone is close enough to an RFID tag attached to certain objects, different actions or windows are triggered on the phone. In the demo, the creators have linked favorite videos, ads, and their podcasts to individual toys that could represent objects at a store.

Review: Active Campaign’s email marketing software

Wednesday, den 15. April 2009

pWhich platforms do you use to promote your blog?/p
pThere may be Twitter, social bookmarking sites like Stumble Upon or Delicious, other blogs and other social networks in your list./p
pThese are all external platforms that you may use to promote your blog - or I should better say, you use these external platforms to communicate with the target market./p
pNow what about your blog? Which features of your blog do you use to communicate with the target market / visitors / readers!/p
pTraditional blogs mainly use post content and comments to communicate with the target market. And sometimes they actively promote blog feed to hold the existing reader base./p
pHowever if you follow the recent trend in professional blogosphere, people are employing alternative platforms to keep in touch with the target market. For example, they are not quite satisfied by offering content as a post. They move a few steps ahead and offer more content as newsletters. Professional bloggers like Darren Rowse is also following the trend in his blog. And another big name Jason Calacanis tried to shift his communication channel from blog to a personal mailing list./p
pEmail marketing today is not just about selling products or informing the existing users about new arrivals. It is more like a viral communication medium and you can easily put it inside the #8220;permission marketing#8221; bracket. More importantly email marketing does not require huge technical knowledge or investment. It is as easy as publishing a blog post./p
pTake a look at a href=”http://www.activecampaign.com/12all/”Active Campaign#8217;s email marketing software/a and their a href=”http://www.activecampaign.com/12all/feature_tour.php”features/a. It will not take more than 2 minutes for you to understand why you should or should not invest in email marketing./p

Boxed Water is Better

Wednesday, den 15. April 2009

With only 14 percent of disposable water bottles making their way to U.S. recycling plants, it’s no wonder designers are flooding the market with eco-friendly alternatives. Boxed Water Is Better is:
Part sustainable water company, part art project, part philanthropic project, and completely curious.
The Michigan-based company creates each water box using around 90 percent tree matter sourced from certified and “well managed” forests which continuously replant harvested trees. Boxed Water Is Better is also shipped flat to reduce carbon emissions from transportation, filling each box as demand is created.

The company returns… Continue reading Boxed Water is Better
